In the early 90's Jan Zakrisson took a brewing course at Jamtli in Östersund, where he learned the basics which inspired him to try out his first experiments of brewing beer.
16 years later, in 2007, Jan measured up the surface of the old barn, build in the 1850's, on the family estate, and then he contacted his instructor from the course on Jamtli. The instructor had during that time been involved in starting up two different breweries. The two spent the whole next day discussing the various solutions on how to rebuild the old barn into a brewery. Short there after Jan started the work to create Klövsjö Gårdsbryggeri - KGB.
In January 2010 the brewery was finally up and running and had started the production of light beer on a larger scale, 800 liters per brew. In July the same year, the brewery received their license for brewing strong beer.

Today Klövsjö Gårdsbryggeri is a local microbrewery located in Klövsjö in Jämtland. KGB uses artisanal methods based on the classic beer brewing. Jan Zakrisson began brewing beer in the early 1990's, and has since then refined the brewery's different recipes for both light beer, regular beer and strong beer.
All beer is brewed in a converted barn from the 1850's, and if you look out the windows you can see parts of the mountains in Jämtland stretching out in the background.
A smaller amount of hops is produced on the farm, and local honey is used as seasoning for some of the beers.

Artisans at work

Klövsjö Gårdsbryggeri has been inaugurated in Économusée - Artisans At Work.
The Économusée network stretches from Canada's west coast to the centre of Scandinavia. The diverse regions of the Northern Periphery share common features such as harsh climate conditions, sparseness of population and remoteness. Much of the area sits north of the Arctic Circle, and includes some of the world's northern most communities.

There's always something exciting going on at an Économusée! Whether it's a bottle of beer, a pair of shoes or a silver bracelet - you can learn about the tradition and history of the craft, watch the item being made, interact with the artisan, and then buy the product in the artisan's boutique so you'll never forget your visit.
